Your Marriage During the Holidays: Don’t Over Do It

You’ll likely to enjoy the holidays better if you’ll do everything in moderation. That might be a challenge for some us because “going overboard” and overindulgence is an inherent part of the holiday season. It’s sort of what’s expected. And it’s reinforced by our family members, friends, co-workers, and especially marketers and the media. We’re called upon to overspend, overeat, party, drink, and do a lot of things that we wouldn’t ordinarily do.

There is a price to be paid whenever we go to the extreme in doing anything. So our advice is quite simple. Don’t overspend. It’s really not a good idea at anytime to spend what you don’t have but this is especially important right now because of the downturn in our economy. Does it make sense to “max” out your credit cards and then spend all year trying to pay them off only to start the whole process over again this time next year?

The holidays are a time of celebrations, good times, and all sorts of gatherings where there are lots of good food and lots to drink. We’d suggest that you eat and drink in moderation. Enjoy yourself but not to an excess. And do not allow yourself to do or say things at the office party that you’ll later regret. You’ll have to face your co-workers the rest of the year after the party is over. You’ll not want what you did at the party the subject of discussion at the water cooler.

Happy Holidays!
