Successful marriages don’t happen by chance. Trust and commitment in marriage are two essential ingredients. These attributes have been exemplified beautifully by all of the couples that we will be honoring this year at our annual Celebration of Couples Awards Luncheon on October 18.
Trust in marriage means a belief that a spouse can depend upon their mate to keep the promises they have made. Trust in marriage empowers couples to have faith and confidence in their love, their relationship, and each other. Trust is essential. Without it, spouses are likely to feel uncertain and unsure. In time, that insecurity is likely to erode the very foundation of the relationship.
Commitment in marriage goes hand in hand with trust. Commitment in marriage means a steadfast dedication to your spouse to do whatever possible to enhance their life and to do no harm. Commitment is the engine or the “follow through” that drives people to live up to the vows they made on their wedding day. And when couples demonstrate their commitment over time, a strong bond and foundation of trust is built.
Success in any endeavor is determined by a person’s trust in themselves and their commitment to see it through to a desired outcome. This is especially true in marriage. Do you want to have a successful marriage? If so, you must demonstrate trust and commitment in your marriage to each other.
